First-time directors James Anderson and Robert Postrozny capture the essence of what it is to grow old in this acclaimed drama about one woman near the end of her life. Set in a small town outside of Chicago, Betty (Helen Rose), a 96-year-old Polish widow leads a lonely life. Her day consists of routine chores, revisiting past memories, and waiting for the visitor who never comes. But today is different. Her only grandson (Postrozny) arrives to celebrate a birthday she would otherwise forget and she is forced to weigh the joys of life against the fears of aging in this joyous and moving film.
